Demo Day

What

On Demo Day we invite visitors to come out to our club for an introductory ride with one of our instructors or commercial pilots to experience soaring. These rides are typically about 30 minutes. Come out if you want to fly, or just watch!

When

Demo Day is scheduled for the first Saturday of every month (weather permitting). Demo rides are available on other days when an instructor or commercial pilot is available, however preference will be given to club members on other days.

How Much

We provide rides in two different classes of aircraft. Our Schwietzer 2-33 trainer constructed of metal with some cloth covering, and our Grob Astir constructed of fiberglass. The Grob has better aerodynamic performance and consequently is more expensive. You can choose which aircraft you want to fly in. The price is $60 and $80 respectively. A $10 discount is available for students, a $5 discount is available for groups of 5 or more that contact us in advance.

Where

Our club operates its own glider airport. It is about 35 minutes north of on Austin relative to the Lakeline Mall at 620 and 183. We are about 1 mile off of 183. Click here for a map.

How

• If the weather is questionable call us on Demo Day at (512) 489-2344 after 10:00 am
• First flights start around 12:00. The best flying conditions are usually 2:00 - 4:00.
• When you show up, ask around to get your name added to the flight list. We provide rides on a first come/first serve basis.
• Pack a lunch. We have a shaded deck, a bathroom, and refrigerator with sodas available. There is a gas station/restaurant with a grill about 2 miles north of our airport on 183.
